Lesson with ICT
Integration on culture and tradition
ICT plays an integral part in teaching and learning process
and we as a teacher need to explore and give platform to our students to learn
by themselves as per the demand of the topic. It has positive impacts on
students’ learning. So I taught culture and tradition to class VI students in
social studies. Firstly I taught them in the class without the use of ICT
directly from the textbook, and then in the next day on 4th July, I
took them to the conference room where a projector has been placed there
permanently for the students and teachers to be used during the delivery of the
lesson.
I made them sit and recap what has been taught in the
earlier class. After that from the link given in the instructional guide, I
showed them about the culture and tradition of our country. From there students
could learn more and get better ideas about how are we going to preserve and
promote our culture and tradition. In the hall I could see the vast difference
in children’s learning comparing to traditional method of teaching. While
through the ICT integrated teaching, students were found very active and
energetic throughout the lesson. The classroom was lively as students watched
different ways to preserve our culture and tradition.
I also used energizer clips in between the lesson to break their boredom
to increase the learning efficiency when activity instructions are provided to
them verbally. Through the use of ICT, it is not helped in increasing the
curiosity of children when teaching but also it reduced the work load and
lecture process.
